Got bored, did some digging, and found some information that backs up some that I’ve had generally about social media for some time now. Check them out.
4. It is Still is Eating Away at Local Media
According to the Dallas News:
Today, local enterprise journalism is about to succumb to a different kind of threat as large digital platforms, led by Google, Facebook, and Twitter, warp the value chain of original content. Like a stealthy neighbor, Jefferson’s daily newspaper has been stolen by these digital platforms that use the content but pay nothing for the privilege.
This digital theft has been unwittingly supported by algorithmically herded consumers who have been trained to expect content on-demand at the mere cost of a few keystrokes. To many, the idea of paying for news is as puzzling an anachronism as the founder’s powdered wig. The value derived from consumers’ attention online has accrued to the top three digital platforms, leaving content creators and those responsible for maintaining publications with mere crumbs.
In a race to the bottom, publishers now too often chase digital traffic with controversial and partisan clickbait rather than the reasoned and substantial reporting necessary for an informed electorate.
3. People are Deactivating Accounts Like Crazy
A 2018 Pew survey of more than 3,400 U.S. Facebook users found that 44 percent of users ages 18 to 29 have deleted the app from their phones in the past year and over half (54%) have adjusted their privacy settings. Another American survey with a smaller sample size by Tech.pinions, a technology and media research firm, revealed that 9% have deleted their accounts entirely.
2. Everyone Universally Hates the Big Platforms
About two-thirds of Americans (64%) say social media have a mostly negative effect on the way things are going in the country today, according to a Pew Research Center survey of U.S. adults conducted July 13-19, 2020. Just one-in-ten Americans say social media sites have a mostly positive effect on the way things are going, and one-quarter say these platforms have a neither positive nor negative effect.
1. It is Simply Social Proof for Small Businesses With no Other Benefit
In January, I covered two back-to-back examples of how your business either doesn’t benefit from Facebook at all, and how over-dependence on Facebook can literally bring your whole business down.

l’m not a financial adviser or certified professional. I only do what I feel is right for me, and as someone that has had a unique career path, passive income through investing has allowed me to build wealth and earn reliable cash flow. While administrations come and go, and policies change by the day, ultimately the biggest impact on my financial health and future are the decisions I make regarding my money.
If the recent defense of corrupt hedge funds, Wall Street bankers, and immoral regulators have shown us anything, it’s that the only people with our best interest at heart when it comes to our money are ourselves.
