Have You Tried Anything New Recently?
I'll explain why my co-workers freaked out when I walked into work last week.
Hey you,
It’s been a whole month since the last time I updated you on life and stuff.
I’ve been traveling for work but also working on new projects. In the middle of all of this, I needed to take my own advice and take some time off from everything to find something not work-related, podcast-related stuff, just something for me to enjoy myself.
I think you’ll be less shocked to learn that I’ve started training in Jiu-Jitsu recently if you’re a subscriber to the On The Run podcast. My co-workers were more shocked when I went into the office last week and saw my right hand bandaged and bandaids around my right eye.
“What the heck happened to you?” everyone asked, thinking I must have been in immense pain.
The truth is I was in pain from a sparring session, but I wasn’t upset or anything. The last month and a half I’ve been going to the gym and training with other awesome people is probably the most fun I’ve had doing anything in two years, and I really mean that.
I think sometimes we spend so much time focusing on so many other important things, we begin to feel selfish if we do anything remotely fun for ourselves because that could be time, energy, and money we could put into investments, bills, etc.
During the last month, I’ve done a series of episodes talking about this concept and others like it to prime you to ask yourself similar questions about tapping into that side of yourself that needs a break from everything:
-Would you hunt zebras or go do Jiu-Jitsu on a first date?
-What hobbies do you have which separate you from your “work” mindset?
-What rites of passage have you done or are called to perform?
And lastly, the most important lessons I’ve learned about pursuing your true sense of happiness and individual freedom in an unhappy, unfree world as discussed on my recent appereance the Brian Nichols Show.
Take care and I’ll talk to you later,
RWM

l’m not a financial adviser or certified professional. I only do what I feel is right for me, and as someone that has had a unique career path, passive income through investing has allowed me to build wealth and earn reliable cash flow. While administrations come and go, and policies change by the day, ultimately the biggest impact on my financial health and future are the decisions I make regarding my money.
If the recent defense of corrupt hedge funds, Wall Street bankers, and immoral regulators have shown us anything, it’s that the only people with our best interest at heart when it comes to our money are ourselves.
