I Helped a Friend Build a Boxing Gym for Disadvantaged Young Boys
Money can't fix everything, but it can fix alot
On my podcast, I’ve been discussing the ways we could change the world. The biggest way to solve a lot of problems? Money.
Yes, money can’t solve every problem, but it can solve a ton of problems.
Case in point, this boxing club a friend of mine, Jon Russell, is creating for fatherless and disadvantaged young boys in his community.
Money can’t bring their fathers home. Money can’t protect them from bullies at school. Money can’t fill the voids in their hearts.
But money can pay for volunteers to have the resources they need to mentor these boys in the art of boxing so they can practice in a clean, safe, professional environment.
Money can buy boxing gloves and punching bags where they will hash out their emotions and learn something useful. Money can put a roof on that building so those kids can go somewhere they feel loved and safe and learn genuine life skills.
Money can’t solve all their problems, but money can solve a lot of them.
Martial arts gave me structure and a community of friends as a child when life became difficult. Now I’m at a point where I can give a kid a similar opportunity to the one I had to feel strong and confident again.
Here is my interview with Jon Russell, who himself has an amazing story about what led him to create the Kelly Street Boxing Club.
Also, please consider donating today to help with the final costs. I’ve already donated $220.
Take care,
